the moment the clean white surface of a canvas is brought into contrast by a stroke of paint, it becomes a problem. then, I struggle to solve the problem. *a painting is a puzzle to me. using layers of color, I work until it starts to make sense. when it no longer draws me in to solve its imperfection, the picture is done. |
